Electrical Engineer
<strong style="font-weight:700;">Job Title: Electrical Engineer</strong><br /><strong>Job Description</strong><p>This role focuses on the expert design, development, and implementation of complex electrical products and systems, with a strong emphasis on control and power panel fabrication. The Electrical Engineer provides advanced technical judgment, resolves highly complex engineering issues, and produces detailed electrical documentation to support manufacturing and field operations. This is a 6‑month contract-to-hire opportunity with the potential to transition to a full-time position.<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong><ul><li>Design and develop electrical products and systems, including complex control and power systems, using expert-level engineering knowledge.</li><li>Translate system processes into electrical systems that meet process and functional requirements for both standard designs and specification-driven projects.</li><li>Prepare, review, and approve electrical engineering documentation such as single-line diagrams, panel layouts, electrical schematics, load lists, I/O and alarm lists, and P&IDs.</li><li>Create and maintain drawings, models, sketches, equipment lists, Bills of Material, manufacturing work instructions, and standard operating practices.</li><li>Plan, organize, and self-monitor daily engineering and design work assignments to ensure timely completion.</li><li>Control and monitor project schedules to meet completion dates and comply with customer and internal technical specifications.</li><li>Develop and apply engineering standards (electrical, mechanical, etc.), procedures, and forms for engineering design and production fabrication.</li><li>Write and administer work instructions to support consistent and high-quality engineering output.</li><li>Provide engineering advice and technical guidance to engineers, project managers, application engineers, and customer service personnel as needed.</li><li>Represent the company in external customer discussions and technical reviews, clearly communicating technical concepts and solutions.</li><li>Originate and implement new engineering methods and procedures to reduce cost and improve quality.</li><li>Provide technical support for proposals and job estimates, contributing to accurate scope and cost assessments.</li><li>Support new product development activities with electrical engineering expertise.</li><li>Resolve highly complex technical issues related to electrical design, control systems, and system integration.</li><li>Ensure all work adheres to applicable health and safety procedures and supports a safe working environment.</li><li>Collaborate closely with the Electrical Engineering leadership and contribute to guiding and supporting a small team of electrical engineers.</li></ul><strong>Essential Skills</strong><ul><li>Minimum of 7 years of electrical engineering experience.</li><li>Strong background in electrical design for control and power panels.</li><li>Proficiency in developing and interpreting electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, panel layouts, load lists, and I/O and alarm lists.</li><li>Hands-on experience with AutoCAD Electrical.</li><li>Experience with programming and control application programs.</li><li>Proficiency with PLC and HMI programming, including platforms such as Siemens, Modicon, and Allen-Bradley.</li><li>Experience working with P&ID documentation.</li><li>Ability to translate system processes into robust electrical systems that meet defined process and functional requirements.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and self-monitor engineering tasks and schedules.</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for resolving complex technical issues.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documentation, collaboration, and customer interaction.</li><li>Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.</li></ul><strong>Additional Skills & Qualifications</strong><ul><li>Experience in the water treatment industry and/or oil and gas is preferred.</li><li>Experience with UV systems is highly desirable.</li><li>Familiarity with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems.</li><li>Field experience supporting installation, commissioning, or troubleshooting of electrical and control systems.</li><li>Experience with SCADA integration and related control system architectures.</li><li>Ability to develop and apply engineering standards and procedures for both electrical and mechanical aspects of projects.</li><li>Experience providing technical support for proposals, job estimates, and new product development.</li><li>Proven ability to represent engineering in customer-facing technical reviews and discussions.</li><li>Strong focus on cost reduction and quality improvement through innovative engineering methods.</li></ul><strong>Work Environment</strong><p>The role is primarily based in an office environment for approximately 70% of the time, focused on design, documentation, and collaboration with engineering and project teams. The remaining 30% of the time is spent in the shop environment, supporting panel fabrication, reviewing builds, and interfacing with production personnel. The position involves close partnership with electrical engineering leadership and offers the opportunity to help guide and support a small team of two electrical engineers.
